HYDRAULIC LOCKS with RUBBER-CORD CASINGS for SHUTOFF and CLEANSING SEWER, WATER and HEAT NETWORKS

 

Hydraulic locks (pipe plugs) with rubber-cord casings serve for efficient and reliable shutoff, elimination of clogs and pressurization of sewer, water and heat pipes of 65 to 1500 mm in diameter. Also they are used to redirect fluid flows while carrying out repair works on pipelines.

Hydraulic locks can be installed on sewer, water and heat networks through wells or special operating apertures in pipes.

Hydraulic locks of GM-1, GM-22, GM-3, GS-1, GS-11, GS-21 models serve only for operative shutoff of pipes of various diameter (see Tab. 1).

Inflating of the hydraulic lock’s casing is provided by giving into it compressed air from a compressor or a gas-cylinder. Some hydraulic locks for shutoff of pipes are shown in Fig. 1.

Hydraulic locks of GM-2N, GM-3N, GS-1N, GS-11N, GS-21N, GB-11N models serve both for shutoff of pipes, and for elimination of clogs, pipes’ pressurization and water diversion (redirection of fluid flows) through their cores (mandrels) for the periods of shutting-off of the damaged sections of pipelines while carrying out repair works. The present hydraulic locks have hollow cores through which liquid can flow. If necessary, the aperture in the core can be muffled with a stopper and the hydraulic lock is used only for shutoff of the pipe by feeding in compressed air in the hydraulic lock’s casing. Hydraulic locks with hollow cores are represented in Fig. 2, and their characteristics are given in Tables 1 and 2.

Characteristics of hydraulic locks for shutoff of pipes of large diameter (600 mm to 1500 mm) are given in Table 2. Nominal air pressure in the casings of hydraulic locks for pipes of large diameter (see Tab. 2, the second line from below) is specified on the basis of securing of factor of the margin of safety of casing not less than 2x in a pipe of the maximum diameter. In pipes with diameter less than maximum, casings can endure an air pressure more than nominal.

To determine the water pressure held by the large hydraulic locks in pipes of various diameter at nominal and maximum (for the given diameter) air pressure in hydraulic locks’ casings, Table 3 is used. In the table the water pressures kept by the hydraulic locks are determined by way of calculation and are checked up experimentally, while the design factor of friction between the casing and the pipe was accepted as 0,15. Some hydraulic locks for shutoff of pipes of large diameter are shown in Fig. 4.

The setup of shutoff of the damaged section of the pipeline is shown in Fig. 5. Two variants of shutoff of the pipeline damaged section by means of two hydraulic locks with hollow cores are shown in Fig. 6. By the first variant (Fig. 6а), the hydraulic locks 4 and 5 are introduced into pipes 2 and 3, while the water flow from pipe 2 is pumped into pipe 3 with the pump 6 through the hollow cores (branch pipes) of hydraulic locks 4, 5, hose pipes 7, 8. By the second variant (Fig. 6b) the hydraulic lock 9 is introduced into the pipe 1, its branch pipe being covered with a cap 11, the water goes to sleeves 7, 8 into the well and further on, into pipe 3.

Hydraulic locks of GM-2N, GM-3N, GS-1N models can be provided for with a special angular branch pipe to which a sectional stem of 1 to 7 meters in length is mounted, which ensures shutoff and cleansing of pipes without the necessity to go down into wells (being done on the surface), and also to conduct works in flooded wells (Fig. 7).

Hydraulic locks work at the temperature of the liquid pumped over on the pipeline, from 0 to 90° С.

For operation on petrochemical enterprises’ sewer networks hydraulic locks are manufactured in oil and gasoline-resistant version. Hydraulic locks are produced according to the TU 2527-004-23770232-2004 specification.

Long time operation of hydraulic locks has shown their high strength, durability, convenience in work. In case the service regulations are observed, the projected service life of a hydraulic lock makes up to 5 years.

Prices for the hydraulic locks produced by our enterprise are minimal.
