HIGHLY ELASTIC JOINTS with RUBBER-METALLIC TOROID-SHAPE ELASTIC ELEMENT
The joints developed are intended for torque transfer between units, for example, between the engine and the pump or between the engine and the generator.
The joints have high compensating and damping properties, allow to reduce the vibration level of units, to enhance their durability, to simplify and reduce the cost of providing service.
InFig. 1 the design of the joint offered is shown, and in Tab. 1 1 the basic characteristics of the joints developed are given.

Brought to your attention highly elastic joints allow to considerably simplify installation, for example, pump plants, so as they compensate the assembly and working radial displacements of shafts being connected, up to 1 mm, and axial displacements up to 2 mm. The compensating capacity of the highly elastic joints is 10 times more than at widespread socket-bolt and gear couplings (joints).
Unlike socket-bolt and gear couplings, the offered joints have no rubbing, wearing out parts, so their durability is high, they do not demand any service throughout the whole operation life which, as practice shows, makes up to 10–15 years.
For the simplification of installation, the elastic element is produced split into two pieces. Non-split elastic elements are also produced.
In the elastic elements of the joints design special sorts of rubbers which have high elasticity and cyclic durability are used. For obtaining of demanded by the customer torsional rigidity of the joint sorts of rubbers which have various elasticity are used.
The modern technology of coupling of rubber with metal has allowed to reach such durability of coupling of rubber with metal that surpasses durability of the rubber itself. In the process of joints’ manufacture the index of strength of rubber with metal coupling is constantly supervised.
For simplification of selection of a joint for a specific installation Table 2 allows one to choose a joint according to the power and speed of the engine’s rotation. Joints are produced according to the TU 4171-005-23770232-2004 specification.
